Hi There
When you arrive on the Urb ask someone to point you in the direction of the Saterlite roundabout ( thats what it's known as locally) There is a cable company there doing a package which includes TV, Telephone with your choice of free calls to Europe or Local calls and 2mg Adsl ( Broadband) for €36 a month. We have had the system for 3 months and so far it has been excellent. They do charge an installation fee and also if you want more than 1 box for the tv you will pay more for installation and more per month. You can also upgrade the ADSL to 4mg for about €6 extra a month. We have found 2mg is fine for normal internet use and even for downloading, but slow when using Skype.
We origionally had Telephonica internet and telephone. They were doing a deal for €40 a month for the first year, but then it's about €60 after that, plus calls, so now we are making a big saving. Also at the Saterlite roundabout the people in the office speak english. Good luck....

Hiya,

sorry forgot to ask do you know how much the instalation fee is roughly?

Commented karen in Almoradi 2011-06-04 07:33:45 UTC

Hi there
The installation cost for us was nearly €300 but we have 2 tv boxes and I think around €70 was for the second box.

If there is a television installed at the property through Torresat then this is one of your cheapest options. If you are going to be on La Marina Urbanisation it costs 21 euros a week for your internet and includes free calls to England. You pay about 6 cents a minute for calls in Spain. There is a charge for connection but I don't know what the deal is at the moment. Hope this helps.

Hi Eve, yes there is English TV in the property so we would only need the internet? Did you mean 21 euros a month or week?

Security

I cannot believe that for the first time in our eight years in Spain, we have had something stolen from outside our house. Someone has come along and taken the statue from right by our front gate. To do this they must have had a vehicle. As we are situated back from the main road they would have had to drive onto the Parque, unless they carried it down the road. If they did I hope they have an hernia.

BEST RESTAURANTS TO EAT IN TORREVIEJA

Can anyone tell me where the best restaurants are in Torrevieja. I have my family coming over from the UK in July and wanted to try to compile a list for them from recommendations. They like all International food so a variety would be excellent. Appreciate any good suggestions. Thanks

´SPLENDOUR OF SPAIN¨, Music, Arts & Craft Festival Sat 4th & Sunday 5th 11am - 6pm

If you have a few hours to spare on the weekend, pop down to Casa La Pedrera the Grand Design House and soak up the atomosphere of the Music, Arts & Craft Festival. It runs all day until 6 and there is an opening and a closing performance both with a spanish flavour. If you have never experienced the true ´flamenco´ you need to be here at 4.00pm on Saturday to see the ´Gypsey King´ from Sevilla, who is the real deal. He has a huge spanish following and has never played to english before, so we need to show him that we can ´Fiesta´like the rest of them. So tell all your friends, there is plenty to see and do, craft fair, art exhibition, and for the kids pony, quad rides and our hay ride with trips to the lake. An all day bbq, plus wood fired paella in the true Valencian tradition. The raffle prizes truly amazing and includes hand made jewellery, paintings etc. & all those entering receiving a free sample of the spanish Liquor, Licquor 43... So much to do, see and hear,,, you cannot afford to miss it!!! We are less than 15 mins from Quesada, quickest way is jump onto the AP7 towards Categena, and take the next exit which is Los Montesinos, follow the signs for Orihuela/Bigastro and its just left after the Vista Bella/La Fortaleza Rest. or simply drive right through Los Montesinos, over the motorway again following the signs to Bigastr/Orihuela. There will be signs off the CV95 to turn into the CV950 just after the restaurants. See our website www.thingstodoinspain.info and click on contact us and then on find us or call 660816620... Jenni

Restaurant Recommendations

My wife is celebrating her 65th birthday soon and I am looking for somewhere special to take her. Can anyone make any recommendations?

Benijofar

We enjoy Cote Jardin in Benimar. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food and great staff. I would certainly recommend for a special occasion.

We went to a new restaurant called Auberge and it was very nice. Decorated very nicely and good atmostphere. Nice choice on the menu too.

The Hot Stone Restaurant at El Raso is great and somewhere different that is not just your normal restaurant - you cook your food (steak, fish, chicken, veg on request) on a hot stone at your table to your requirements. Great fun!

We always enjoy Fratellis on the square in Benijofar - lovely food and good service. Do usually have to book for a weekend though.

For a special treat I highly recomend la Heradura. okay you have a short drive to montesinos but its on the main drag and it is a wonderful experience, typically spanish, with an amazing menu of the highest order. its not somewhere youd go unless it was a special occasion or you were happy to spend a few quid. you can dine in the large dining room, outside in the beautiful spanish courtyard or you can book one of their many small and intimate dinning rooms, it really is a lovely experience.

EXHIBITION OF 2ND HAND CAR SALES

Visited Xl 2ND HAND MOTOR FAIR IN ALMORADI yesterday as I was looking and hoping to change my car in part exchange. Lots of choices, but was amazed how expensive second hand cars cost here in Spain. I tried to negotiate with several dealers but they were so adamant about the prices and would not budge a great deal. So I decided to keep my car for at least another year. I will give it a service and look after it and save myself a few euros.

Almoradi

I have seen a few cars as I have been driving around in the Catrel area that are for sale and they seem very cheap. I will post the phone numbers next time I am passing

Thank you very much! I am looking for something reliable and cheap.
